XR Safety Guidelines
ReviveXR / Studio40
Last Updated: March 7th 2026
ReviveXR is committed to creating immersive experiences that are safe, comfortable, and accessible. While extended reality (XR) can provide engaging and meaningful environments, users should follow appropriate safety practices when using immersive technology.
These guidelines are intended to help ensure a safe and positive experience while using Studio40 and other ReviveXR immersive environments.
1. Use XR in a Safe Physical Space
Before starting an experience:

  • Ensure the area around you is clear of obstacles such as furniture, pets, or cords.

  • Use XR in a stable seated position or designated safe play area.

  • Maintain awareness of your surroundings when entering or exiting immersive experiences.

  • Avoid using XR while walking, driving, or performing activities that require full attention.

2. Take Regular Breaks
Extended immersion can sometimes lead to fatigue or discomfort.
We recommend:

  • Taking short breaks every 20–30 minutes

  • Removing the headset if you feel tired or distracted

  • Hydrating and allowing your eyes to rest between sessions

3. Stop Use if You Experience Discomfort
Some individuals may experience symptoms such as:

  • Dizziness

  • Eye strain

  • Nausea

  • Disorientation

  • Headaches

If you experience any of these symptoms:

  • Stop using the device immediately

  • Rest until symptoms fully resolve

  • Resume only when comfortable

If symptoms persist, consult a healthcare professional.
4. Users with Medical Conditions
Individuals with certain conditions should consult a healthcare professional before using XR experiences, including those with:

  • A history of seizures or epilepsy

  • Balance disorders

  • Severe motion sensitivity

  • Neurological conditions that may be affected by visual stimulation

Studio40 experiences are designed for wellness and engagement purposes and are not intended as medical treatment.
5. Maintain Proper Headset Fit and Comfort
For a comfortable experience:

  • Adjust the headset to fit securely but not tightly

  • Ensure lenses are properly aligned with your eyes

  • Use devices in a well-ventilated and comfortable environment

Improper headset positioning may cause unnecessary eye strain.
6. Supervision for Older Adults or First-Time Users
Individuals who are new to XR or who may require assistance should:

  • Begin with shorter sessions

  • Have caregiver or staff support available if needed

  • Use seated experiences until comfortable with the technology

Studio40 environments are designed to be calming and accessible, but users should still approach immersive technology gradually.
7. Age Considerations
XR headsets may have age recommendations established by device manufacturers. Users should follow the guidance provided by their headset provider.
Parents or caregivers should supervise younger users when appropriate.
8. Responsible Use of Immersive Technology
XR experiences should complement healthy routines and well-being practices. Users are encouraged to:

  • Balance immersive use with real-world activities

  • Maintain regular sleep, movement, and social engagement

  • Use immersive environments thoughtfully and intentionally

9. Device Manufacturer Guidelines
Users should also follow the safety guidelines provided by their headset manufacturer, such as those provided for devices like the Meta Quest.
These guidelines may include additional information regarding:

  • Safe headset use

  • Device maintenance

  • Boundary settings and guardian systems
